Windows 7 SP1 stuck searching for updates

Windows 7 SP1 stuck searching for updates

New windows 7 SP1 installs seem to get stuck when you try and run windows update
you just get "Searching for updates" and it just sits there

I managed to get the updates to work, but unsure of what fixed the issue, but basically I downloaded the KB's and installed manually, having to turn off the windows update service for each install and reboot.

The process below

Install IE 11
reboot
downloaded each KB
turn off windows update service via "Start - run - services.msc"
install KB
reboot

also running WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab every now and then, and running my other windows update fix in this forum

Here are a list of the KB's I installed

Windows6.1-KB2670838-x64.msu
Windows6.1-KB3083710-x64.msu
Windows6.1-KB3102810-x64.msu
Windows6.1-KB3135445-x64.msu
Windows6.1-KB3138612-x64.msu
Windows6.1-KB3161664-x64.msu
Windows6.1-KB3172605-x64.msu
Windows6.1-KB947821-v34-x64.msu
Feb-2016-Windows6.1-KB3135445-x64.msu
July-2016-update-client-Windows6.1-KB3172605-x64.msu
Aug-2016-Windows6.1-KB3179573-x64.msu
Sept-2016-rollup-Windows6.1-KB3185278-x64.msu

after this last one I did leave "control panel - windows update" running for a day and it rebooted and updates now working

Hope this helps
Cheers
