At present you cant do a full upgrade (in place) from VISTA to windows 8 , you can only upgrade settings and personal files , it does not upgrade applications BUT, if you have a win7 anywhere, upgrade to win 7 first and then before it activates to microsoft upgrade to windows 8 (so you dont need to purchase a win 7 license just borrow one for an hour )
